Between 20 and 30 weeks of pregnancy is the best time to start. This is because courses will be taught over 3 or 4 sessions spread out usually every 2 weeks to allow time for practicing of breathing and relaxation techniques in addition to what is covered in our sessions.
-
Although starting earlier is preferable, it is rarely too late! Get in touch as one to one classes can be organised quickly where there is availability, so that we can fit them before your estimated due date.
I do also offer an intensive version of the course which can be done in a single one off, 4 hour session.

Yes absolutely. Hypnobirthing can be used regardless of whether it is your first or 7th pregnancy. It is for all births regardless of number.
I do offer a refresher course if you have previously done a course in the past and perhaps don’t feel you need the full 10hours. Please get in touch and we can have a chat about how i can help.

If you have a caesarean birth, hypnobirthing is a fabulous tool to have as it will support you with feeling relaxed and calm in a situation which might otherwise feel scary.
If you have a planned caesarean section my course can prepare you and your birth partner for the c-section itself so you know what to expect.

No, this is a common misconception of hypnosis. Hypnosis is a feeling of deep relaxation. You are aware of what is going on around you but you are able to ignore and zone out any distractions. Hypnosis is similar to when you’re engrossed in a TV show or a book. You are deeply focused but you can easily tune back in to other things going on whenever you want or need to.
-
This is quite common, perhaps they are suspicious about hypnosis or maybe they think it must be too good to be true.
Hypnobirthing will be successful providing you engage with the course material and practice the techniques you will learn.
By the end of the first session those that are sceptical will usually be able to see what a brilliant and rational course it is and can understand how the course will have a positive impact on the birth of their child.

Some mums who have studied Hypnobirthing during pregnancy say that they didn’t feel pain during labour and birth, simply power or pressure, therefore they didn’t require any pain relief.
However Hypnobirthing cannot guarantee the absence of pain during labour and birth as many factors affect this. Research and anecdotal evidence suggests that Hypnobirthing can sometimes result in a pain free birth. Please remember that the aim of Hypnobirthing is to allow you to birth easier and more comfortably, so although a pain free birth is possible this is not the ultimate aim.

Hypnobirthing classes provide valuable techniques for both you and your partner. Classes allow both you and your partner to feel prepared and positive about the birth of your child, therefore it is important that they attend.
However if it is not possible for them to attend please get in touch for a chat. It is likely that we can work around this.
If you don’t have a partner or are planning to birth without your partner present that is absolutely fine, it is possible to have a great Hypnobirth without a partner present.
